الوضع السوسيو-اقتصادي للأسر وعلاقته بالنجاح المدرسي للأبناء

Abstract :This article examines the relationship between families’ socioeconomic status and children’s academic achievement, emphasizing the need to distinguish between the various factors that influence educational outcomes. It identifies, on the one hand, factors that have an indirect or long-term impact on academic success and, on the other hand, factors that are directly related to the schooling process.
Among the family determinants with an indirect (distal) effect, socioeconomic status occupies a central position. It encompasses the material, cultural, and symbolic resources available to families, which shape the educational opportunities offered to children.
The article also draws on several sociological approaches that have examined the influence of the family on academic achievement. These approaches are grouped into three complementary perspectives: the economic perspective, which focuses on financial resources and educational investments; the cultural perspective, which highlights the transmission of knowledge, values, and cultural capital; and the social perspective, which examines family socialization processes, educational norms, and parenting practices that influence children’s educational trajectories and academic success.
